Mirror or Sponge
Are you a mirror or a sponge ,
It’s time for you to know.
A mirror always tells the truth,
But only sometimes helps you grow.
Coz truth can be subjective,
Depending on your state of mind.
And attitudes and words can mirror moods,
Some of which, are less than kind.
Now hatred mirrors hatred,
And envy does the same.
But love will always mirror love,
Without the foolish need for gain.
But sponges learn to suck it up,
To rise above that, “but he said”.
To tolerate all kinds of foolish pride,
That roll around inside an unforgiving head.
So do we bounce these images ,
Right back from where they came.
With never even little thought,
Of how to play this game.
The game of life is never won,
By those who just bite back.
But savour opportunities to grow .
And store them up like gifts in Santa’s sack.
Until that very special day,
One understanding heart.
Will master negativity
And overcome the mirrors lie,
Unselfish love his one and only path.
